Izmir subcutaneous implant is a hormonal Izmir birth control method. In this method, a stick the size of a matchstick placed under the skin on the arm secretes the hormone progesterone at regular intervals throughout the day, thus preventing pregnancy. It provides a three-year protection. The procedure is performed with local anesthesia. The advantages of the implant are that it is easy to use, does not need to be remembered, can be used by lactating women, and is a method with high efficacy and longevity.
